I haven't posted in a long time mainly because my computer isn't working. We are going to get it fixed soon I hope. We have moved to Missoula and we love it. We have been here since the end of August. My job is at the University Salon which is convenient because we only have one car and its nice to have lunch with Adam everyday.

I joined a book club which is a new thing for me due to my lack of reading, but that is changing because I am loving it. I am reading this book called "The Glass Castle" I think everyone should read it. It is a memoir about this very successful writer who grew up in poverty.

Oh how I love America! We have been eating great food, spending quality time with our family, and loving the mountains and clean air! I just love being home.
We got accepted to Montana University School of Law. So if we don't get accepted to Oregon or Lewis and Clark we will go there in the fall. We are excited either they are all nice places to live.

Protesting/riots and the Thai New Year

The "red shirts" have been protesting and it has been pretty violent. They shut down a lot of the roads and all the stores. We have just been staying in our apt. where it is safe.
The protesters set this bus on fire and it crashed, no one was injured fortunately.
For the Thai New Year the whole country has a water fight with each other. Adam just squirted this little kid, and he doesn't look too happy about it, or he was just staring at Adams beard everyone stares at his beard.
Another water fight with kids.. maybe Adam needs to pick on people his own size.

I rained a lot for a week or two which was quite refreshing. But the rain is crazy, if you step into it you look like you had just jumped into a pool.

Another adventurous trip to Cambodia

On our long bus ride home the bus broke down and we sat in the sun for 2 hours in the heat waiting for a new bus to come. If I could imagine what hell would be like this was it.
We went to Phnom Kuleng waterfalls, it was so fun but there were a lot of little fish that bit our legs. I wasn't a fan of that.

These kids were begging me to pick them to watch our shoes for a quarter while we went into see a Buddha.

People here love these funny pictures with a fake blue background. They get them for their wedding.
Here is the church that Adam helped open up on his mission. Now there are two branches! They asked us to speak on the spot which was a little scary but while Adam translated I had time to think of something to say.
Everyone laughed about how big his beard is. And while we were walking around town Adam would start laughing because people would comment on his beard in Cambodian.

Beards and Elephants

Adam's beard is getting so long and is becoming a distraction whilst kissing. When I mention trimming it he laughs at the idea and tells me he is letting it grow until we go home. He has trimmed it once since we have been here so I guess I should be grateful about that. Now we have a month and a half left and his beard grows pretty fast. So I am hoping my lack of kisses or the heat will get to him. I am interested to see if he will crack. But knowing him and the fact that he didn't cut his hair for a year because someone bet him five bucks, I think the odds are not in my favor.
Also, today we were walking home from church and we saw an elephant on the sidewalk! I would have taken picture but I didn't have my camera. Oh the craziness of Thailand.

I got tagged...So, for this tag, I was supposed to go to the documents on my computer, go to pictures, pick the 6th file, then the 6th folder, and the 6th picture. I was to then post the picture on my blog, tell about it, and tag 6 people to do the same.
I am not quite sure what the 6th file is, I just went to the 6th folder and picture.
This is what I found! This is us on a tuk tuk coming home from church, in Bangkok. Tuk tuks are these three wheeled carts that can weave in and out of traffic, so you sometimes get places a little faster if you don't mind the heat and the pollution in your face. And you have to haggle with the driver for the price, if you are white they might just rip you off.

Beach fun at Kosamead

We got to Kayak in the ocean, it was raining. We have been here two months and the only time it rains is when we go to the beach to swim. But I didn't mind it was still refreshing.

All the restaurants were along the beach so we got to have our feet in the sand and listen to the ocean.
I was sitting their relaxing when this nasty dog decided to enjoy my shade with me. I wasn't too happy.

Slumdog Millionaire

I was happy Slumdog Millionaire won so many Academy Awards including Best Picture. I think one of the reasons I loved this show so much was it restored a good feeling back to the Oscars. All the films that have won in the past while have been great films but they were so dark and this movie has more of a feel good mood to it.
It also means so much more to me now that I have seen poverty first hand, it makes it so real.
They plucked poor children they found in Mumbai to act in it. They were all at the Oscars and the excitement that showed on their faces was so genuine it was enough to make you teary eyed.
It was so refreshing to see these real people from India who have seen hard times and lived hard lives beating out a bunch of pampered spoiled millionaires. I loved it!

Insomnia

So I have been here almost two months and my sleeping schedule is still out of wack. I am still not used to it. So I don't sleep much at all. It sucks I have never had this insomnia problem and I am here to say I would not wish it on my worst enemy. You just lay there thinking of things you wouldn't normally have time to think about like worrying about something I said to someone in high school. So if I apologize to you for something you know why. Or when I am just laying there I will think of things that sound so insightful and deep so I try to remember when I wake up and it is never as cool as when I am deep in my own thoughts. I also found out Adam is a sleep talker. the other night he started saying "Brunes lets put in another movie " and then he laughed (he calls me Brunes) Knowing me I bet I was even witty in his dreams.

It is a cruel thing insomnia. If anyone has a remedy for it let me in on it I have time to try anything. It is now 2:30 a.m and I might try "When Harry met Sally" maybe Meg Ryan can put me to sleep.

Top ten things I have noticed about living in Thaialnd

10. All the girls dress the exact same (really tight spandex pants and high heels) and they have the same mullet haircut. That includes the boys too.
9.They spend so much time in front of the mirror, every time I am in a public bathroom I can't even get to the sink there are girls (and sometimes transvestites) primping taking up all the space, so sometimes I give up and use hand sanitizer.
8. They walk really slow right in front of you, or maybe that is just because it's so crowded you have to walk slow.
7. All the girls hold hands with each other in a best friend sort of way.
6. They have a staring problem, like they have never seen a white person. I sometimes just wave at them and say hi. Sometimes I will be eating and the person next to me will be staring right at me.
5. The waiters watch you eat, and before you order they just stand there while you are deciding. They don't seem to get it when I say" just one minute" They just smile and keep standing there so I sometimes order something I don't want just out of anxiousness.
4. They don't know how to form a line. Here I am waiting patiently and i get pushed and shoved and never get my turn. I was in the womens bathroom and I was getting very impatient I was giving some people a piece of my mind. I noticed I am a lot more brave when I am getting mad at someone who doesn't understand me.
3. The driving is like nothing anyone from America is used to. Their motto is lets see how close we can come to getting our selves killed today.
2. The ward we go to is our favorite ward we have ever been in. They are all so excited about church, and there are so many different people from different places, it's so fun to get to know all of them.

Teaching English

I finally started teaching English and I am liking it. I teach two girls they both know some English I am just helping them with pronunciation. So it is pretty easy and I enjoy talking to them. It takes about an hour to get there, I have a hard time in the taxis i get really sick so i have to try to tell the drivers to turn up the A/C and I try to put my face in it and imagine I am not in the cab with the crazy driver. Other than that it is great!

Ocean World Aquarium

This is the biggest Aquarium in South East Asia. It was so cool, there are so many crazy looking creatures that live in the ocean.

Yes, this is a shark!
Ocean rats, weirdest things. They look just like normal rats but they are under water. And a lot bigger.
We went on a glass bottom boat ride.

Weekend trip to the beach

We decided it was getting a little hot and one can only stand being in Bangkok with the business so long, so we are hopefully going to take many trips to the beaches in Thailand. This weekend we went to Hua Hin. It was great! There was a huge amount of old Europeans with skin diseases from too many trips to the beach, and some of them decided they didn't want to be constricted by their bikini tops. After the shock , We got a good laugh. We also got massages while we were there, the thai people must not really care about privacy because when they gave us the shirt and pants they wanted us to change into they didn't leave for us to change, we finally hinted we didnt want them to see us and after alot of awkwardness with them standing there, they got the picture.

The lovely beach of Hua Hin, don't ask me how to pronounce it. I have tried and the Thai people corrected me many times.
This guy stopped Adam on the streets wanting him to buy a suit ( Adam is good I usually just say no thanks and keep walking) But this guy wouldn't let go of Adams hand he held it for five minutes I had to take a picture I was laughing so hard.

Trip to the Beach

The Australian open finals were playing and Adam couldn't stand missing it so we watched it at a bar and ordered virgin margaritas, I think that was the first time I have been in a bar that just shows you how sheltered I am.
We rode elephants I was so excited to do this. It was fun, this elephant is 30 years old and they live to be 100 years usually.
This was at a beach side restaraunt. We splurged, but ya know the American food is not very good here so there is no point in getting it. Even though I miss waffles, milk, rolls etc the list is endless.

What a day

This morning I opened one of Adams e-mails that said we were awarded a scholarship that he applied to so long ago. I had even forgotten about it, but it will help us so much, we are so excited.
So that was some great news.
So we walk outside and I try to avoid the nasty dogs as usual, but this time one of the dogs were following us I was trying to not act scared Adam told me to just ignore it, but then it started to growl and bark at us. I have a huge fear of big dogs just ask my sisters, and dogs from Thailand are even worse because they have got some major diseases. I grabbed onto Adam, and he was about to pretend to kick it so it would go away but the owner of the dog called it and he left. So now I am even more afraid of these dogs.
Then as if that weren't enough we were walking to the 7-11( a daily routine for us) and a huge rat runs right in front of my feet almost grazing them. Good thing these people don't speak my language because I said a few choice words. And that is what a day is like in Bangkok.

Trip to Cambodia

Here are some of pictures of our trip back to Adams mission. It was so fun to meet all of his mission friends. I couldn't believe how poor everyone is. And how they live everyday. It was a real eye opener and made me feel so grateful I am American.
I felt like a celebrity there, except without the perks of being gorgeous and having alot of money, but they stare at you so much and don't stop staring. And let me tell you if you are ever having a low self esteem go to Cambodia they will tell you you are beautiful even if you don't do your hair, have massive amount of zits from the climate change, and are sun burned. They were always telling me how beautiful I was. Adam was told he was handsome as well.
There was some crazy stuff too, if they have a mole on their face they never trim the hair on it. It is like good luck! And at restaraunts the waitresses watch you eat they just stand around and watch in case you need anything.
We had so much fun. Although I could never live there, it's crazy how nice it was to come back to Bangkok, it felt like home coming back to our apt.

We met up with Adams old mission companion who was their from Chicago, It was such a coincidence that they were there at the same time. It was so fun to hang out with them, we went go carting.
Here is a mean monkey we saw in the park, There was another one that was running around hissing. I started to runaway because I was so scared.
Here is a close up on the pigs in the barrel, I just couldn't get over it. The man liked how I was taking pictures he was smiling.
We found this nice restaurant and when we got in found out it was a thai restaurant. Kind of funny we had just left Thailand.
There are kids walking all over on the roads with cars zipping by and they are barefoot. Its so sad. I saw a toddler on the street too I couldn't believe it.

I could not believe how much trash their was all over the place, it made Bangkok look clean.
This was the bathroom in the hotel, the shower sprays all over the whole bathroom, it was so skinny we both couldn't even stand in there. Adam is spraying off his dirty feet.
This man is shipping pigs in this barrel. Yes those are pigs.
No tissue, no sink, no soap, not even a squirter in this one (not like I use them anyway) this is how most of the toilets look. And that is why I carry tissue and hand sanitizer with me.

This was at an intersection, That scooter has three adults and a tiny baby on it. Car seats ...these people would mock us. I saw people holding newborns on these scooters, and believe me I never even felt safe, I can't imagine holding a baby on them.

Our trip to Cambodia

Cambodia was so fun but so poor, I felt bad for the people. I wish I could be like Angelina Jolie and adopt them all if only I had enough money to pay for nannies and a house keeper I would.

The food off the streets was not my favorite but they did have some good restaraunts that I really enjoyed.
We got a couples massage. It felt nice, except we both had sun burns after the first day so that kind of put a damper on things.
We rode around on a motto (skooter) and the traffic was insane utter chaos Adam drove just like one of the locals. This picture is mainly to assure our parents we wore helmets.
This lady was like Adams mom on his mission. She was so nice. I just loved her she made us dinner and was so excited to see Adam. I hope to see her again before we go home.

Teaching English

This is one of the places we eat at every night, we have gotten to know some of the cooks, its fun they know what we want to order and how we like it.
At church, oh its nice to go to church I look forward to it every week. This week we went to the Cambodian ward so Adam translated for me, he loved speaking with the people and it was fun listening. The Cambodian girl that took this picture didn't really know how so she got more of the ground then the church.
This was at the weekend market, it has everything here from clothes, to decor, to food. It was very fun but very crowded as you can see.
This was in one of the cabs we were riding in. I wonder if the cab driver has had problems with this before.
I just had to take this picture, there are dogs all over just lying in the middle of the street. They are so gross I try to avoid them at all costs, I do feel bad for them but from a distance.

Living and eating in Bangkok

This is a park called Chatuchak Park. The lady who took the picture kept saying cheese! She loved it, if people can speak English they like to talk to you.
Ok I don't really wear make-up here so just look past that. This was at a street cafe.
Our favorite dessert, well they don't really have many desserts here. But this is so good, sticky rice and mangoes. We eat it every night.
This is the alley outside of our Apt. They don't really have many garbage cans here. I am always looking for one, I usually end up holding garbage in my hands until I get home.
We saw this the other day, here we have clothes hanging to dry normal right? but next to it we have meat hanging out on the line. I had to take a picture.

Feeling happy about life

So I was having a bit of a culture shock for this first week all I could think about was I have to live in this polluted, crowded place for four months? But I think I am getting used to it all because I am starting to love it. The food is so good to me now because I have branched out and tried new dishes, and I am getting used to how the people are and instead of getting annoyed with them starring or talking about us I just wave and usually they wave back. I am having such a good time! And I am happy for this sudden attitude adjustment because this is such an adventure and I am grateful we get to have it.

The day of the Wats

A tuk tuk driver took us to alot of Wats today (that means Buddhist temples) you have to take your shoes off out of respect so my feet are really dirty. People here like to be bare foot. I however am not such a fan I could just feel all the crumbs and dirt as I walked.

We climbed many many stairs to get to the top of this one called the Golden Mount it has a great view of Bangkok.

At the top of this is our Apt. we are moving in on the 6th. We are excited to get things settled. The balcony is so nice, its a great deal much better than all the ones we looked at.

First few days in Bangkok

We went to this zoo where they had a magic show, crocodile show and an elephant. The elephant show was my favorite they danced it was so cute.
I was biting the tail of this tiger and all these Asians were laughing at me. Even though I can't communicate with them they still think I am witty.
I haven't ridden on an elephant yet but I did pet some. We will ride them soon.
We went to the mall by our house and this man was break dancing.
This is me getting a massage at our apt we are staying at. That girl is really nice.
The airplane trip was so long, I was getting so fidgety.

So it turns out we are going to Bangkok. The airports opened back up, they took the prime minister out, so hopefully everybody is happy and peaceful while we are there. Wish us luck! We leave December 30th, stressful with Christmas, moving, and Adam applying to Law schools. I am sure we will manage though.

Doesn't it look great! Oh I love Christmas I can hardly stand it.
Who likes my attire? I wear it with confidence. No it is not a one piece I just could only find gray. I have alot of memories cutting down trees with my family. I never want a fake one. It's just not as fun. I love the smell of the real trees, the look, the fun of finding the one you want most. It's great. Jaime, Ash, me and my dad went this year!

My moms side of the family put together a girls weekend. We spent the night doing pedicures, beading and chatting. It was a good time.

Thailand update

So you may have heard that Thailand has been having some riots and what not over the past few months. They got a new Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat and they do not like him they say he is corrupt. There are picketers that have taken over the airports and the airports have been shut down for this whole week so people trying to get back to the states or wherever they are going are stuck in the airport.
I hope things change so we can still go. I am getting nervous, we have been excited about this for months now. If the riots and protesting in the airports continue we will have to go to D.C or something for an internship. I have it in my head that we are going somewhere fun and I will be so sad if we can't.

It's Christmas time and time for a carol!

Adam doesn't really love Christmas music or anything Christmas until Thanksgiving is over and this is the case for most humbug people ( I don't know if that word works as an adjective but for the sake of Christmas I will just say it anyway), but I can't get enough of Christmas I need more than just a month of it. Especially when I am going to be moving in Dec. I need to listen to it and celebrate Christmas as much as possible. If you ever need a good Christmas C.D. filled with carpenters and Bing Crosby give me a shout out and I can help you out.

I finally did the whole Triathlon!!!!!

My sister Jaime does these Triathlons and I have just done the running part in the past but I was determined to do the whole thing. It was so much fun my friends Katie, Celest, Stacia and my sister Ash did it with me. It was so much fun, I want to do more and more of them and get better times. I can see why my sister likes them so much they are addicting.

This part was cold running to and from the pool but other then that it was a nice day thankfully

Election bash and Adams Birthday!

it was Adams Birthday on the 8th we went to the Body World and then hung out with Ash and Jake at their house. We had cake with his family the next day he got a really nice Nixon watch from his mom and from me he got a sweet back pack to take to Thailand so we can go back packing all over southeast Asia.
We went to an election night party that Adam helped put together on campus, it was a huge success lots of people showed up. Ashlee and I were in the ping pong tournament.

I am so excited to go to Bangkok! For those of you who don't know we are moving to Thailand for four months to study abroad. We chose to go there for three main reasons Adams major is international studies and he needs to study abroad for it, it is the cheapest study abroad, and Adam went on his mission to Cambodia so we will be able to visit. It will be so much fun! I hope to teach English while we are there. It will be interesting and very different since i have only gone to Peurto Rico and Nauvoo but I am happy to go and learn about their culture.

We had such a fun Halloween party! can you guess who we are? If you said Gomez and Morticia Addams you are right. And "thing" too! Those fingernails were so annoying I ripped them off after pictures.
We played the flour game where you each take a slice out of the flour and if the m&m falls then you have to eat it without your hands.

The whole clan, we have everyone from Ron Burgendy to Obama to the Joker. There was another Morticia and Gomez (we maybe should have communicated, oh well we both looked wonderful)

Adams sister Ash was a gangster and her husband was an old man there costumes were great! She bleached his hair to make it white.
We are the only ones who dressed up at my salon. I wasn't about to be Morticia at work!

Pumpkin Walk! ( and other random happenings)

This is Adam and I at the Noah's Arc scene please notice the little elephant bums right behind us! And for everyone who doesn't know what this blessed event is I will tell you. Some creative people have put scenes together and everything is made up of pumpkins this year the theme was heroes. I always enjoy it, maybe even more than the children.
This is my niece Kaissa she is being Yoda, she didn't really know what was going on but she always smiles for the camera.
This was right before the pumpkin walk my friend Katie and I made Halloween sugar cookies, we had cookie cutters but when we got sick of that we made our own creations I made fangs and Jack from the nightmare before Christmas.
When we were eating lunch on campus the other day I looked up and Adam had many things hanging from his beard and didn't even know it. He says he doesn't want to cut it until we get back from Thailand which is in May so I better get used to things dangling from it.

Caramel apples and baking a cake with Tay Tay

This is my sister Tay and we are baking an applesauce cake, and it was delicious. Don't believe us ask the dishes, we can sing we can dance after all this is France. sorry I got on a Beauty and the Beast tangent.

Adam and I made caramel apples at our friends house, we do many Halloween festivities, its great I am sad it's going to be over soon.
I am love Halloween so much I was even scheduling this lady to come in for a pedicure on Halloween and I wrote on her card Oct 31st for a spooky pedicure, I don't think she thought it was as funny as I did.

I LOVE HALLOWEEN! I cant get enough of Halloween and all it's spookiness. If there was light in this pumpkin you would be able to tell it is a witch, we..... or should I say Adam carved he would hardly let me do any of it he takes this pumpkin carving very seriously. But in his defense he warned me and told me to get another pumpkin, and I in my silliness thought oh we will do it together it will be fun. Not so I am afraid, but it turned out cute and I chatted with our friends.

Conference

1. I have to be at work on Saturday
2 Adam is taking his LSAT test and we are so nervous. Pray for him so we can get into a good school.

My gram taught me to can peaches. She was so nice to come and help us, we always enjoy her company, we got to play some card games with her and that is always a treat.
My sister Holli got a new massage chair so Randon and I were relaxing on it. He really liked it look at that drool.
Jaime and Ash are really good mountain bikers but I am afraid I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to this but I go along for the fun.

1.I don't like it when I am dealing cards and the people take the cards as I am dealing. I just want them to wait is that so hard? answer me that!

2. I can't take a shower without having my teeth brushed in fact I usually brush them in the shower.

3. I hate to admit it and i never thought I would be like this but right now I don't have my phone i left it at my mother-in-laws house and I hate not having my phone with me. lame I know.

4.I like my garment top tucked in and if for some reason they get untucked I cant stand it.

6.When I sleep it's quite a process I have to have the sheets at the bottom ( not the sides) tucked in real tight and I have to have three pillows two underneath my head (they are kinda flat thats why) and one in between my legs now the one in between my legs is crucial without this I have a sleepless night. just ask Adam.

Birthday Fun!

It was my birthday on the 28th of August and Ashlee's on the 26th so we always celebrate together.
For my birthday we went up the canyon and shot arrows, I was really into it when I was little so I thought it would be fun to do it again on my birthday. For Ashlee's birthday we went to the China Bistro it was yummy. One waitress sang Happy Birthday in Cantonese.
Ashlee's roommate made her an Olympic ring cookie. Ash is really into the Olympics just quiz her about who won gold any year, any event I bet ya she would know it.

We went to El Torro a Cache Valley favorite and I got free Sopapitas and they even sang to me with a sombrero on my head.

I love the Olympics. They have been so fun to watch. the most intense ones for me have been the womens gymnastics and the swimming. I am sad it is coming to an end.

Jackson Hole!

Adams family goes to Jackson Hole every summer. It was so fun this year, we went rafting, canoeing, Kayaking, hiking, and golfing. It was a good time.

We hiked to inspiration point, and that is Jenny Lake behind us.
We had a golf tournament and we were the winning team! Those were our prizes.

Adam wanted to fit in with the locals of Jackson Hole so he came up with this mess of a hair du. He thought it was so funny, and it was for a week but I promptly made him shave it on our return home.

Adam, me and our friends Kami and Porter went fluming at Cutler Dam late at night. It was an adventure I tell ya, and if that isn't enough Porter and Adam did it in the nude. Kami and I didn't feel the need to do the same.

My family came over to visit, we were watching Shark Tale. We had fun.

It was slow at my salon so Ash came and i did her hair fancy she was looking "hot to trot," a older lady that comes to my salon says that everytime she gets her hair done. I love it.

Swimming, friends wedding, and playing at Grams

We were in line for the Dark Knight, it was packed. I don't think there was one seat open. It was a good movie.

We were playing Rook with my gram and uncle Arlen and he brought home a pie with about five layers of whipping cream on it he was so excited.

In between the Luncheon and the Temple we went to the Hansen Planetarium. I was on the news telling about the hurricane near Florida.

We were posing at the temple (I kinda wanted just a smiley one but he wasn't cooperating, so I went along with it.)

A bunch of us that went to my friend Melanie's wedding at the Salt Lake Temple. We are happy for her.

I went swimming with my friend Lauren and her cutest baby Liam. They moved to Boise so when they come and visit it is a treat.
